In terms of new capacity addition in 2019, India ranked fifth.
The top countries with new capacity addition in 2019 are, Bhutan (720 MW), Tajikistan (600 MW), Russia (462.5 MW), Nepal (175.8 MW) and India (154.1 MW). In total, the region added 2343 MW hydro plants.
In 2019, no new pumped storage hydro power capacity was added.
